Spread the Love

Princess is the newly-inducted Word Ministry steward of FCCY. She is in her last year in high school in SPAS. She is also part of the FCCY choir and a varsity player for volleyball.
If the sower were today’s Filipino rice farmer, do you think he would just throw seeds around like what the sower did in the parable? With the cost of rice reaching record high prices, perhaps the sower may be a little careful in scattering the seeds so as to earn profit.
But then, there is a difference between love and business. A relationship in business blossoms because of the existence of profitable opportunities. A love relationship, however, is an appeal to the other, with the person offering his or her entire subjectivity to the other. Thus, it is open to being hurt or to being accepted. Upon being accepted, this love then becomes creative.
Thus, the seeds are God’s message, inviting everyone to participate in making the Kingdom of Love real. Some of these seeds fall on my heart, which sometimes may have rocky soil. However, I’m happy that God does not give up on me. Rather, God sends me blessings which are rain that nurture the seeds that sprout in my heart. Moreover, this rain also wears down the rocky parts of my heart, in a process known in science as weathering.
With God’s patience and the love I experience from my family, friends and FCCY, the weathered rocks in my heart are given nutrients from where the seed of God’s Word becomes stronger. Even if droughts come in the form of hard times, God continually nourishes the seeds of love in my heart with smiles and support from friends and family.
Thus, I grow to become a better person. The soil in my heart may still have some rocks in it but it has become more fertile. I feel now that God is using me to spread the first fruits of his harvest by becoming a lector in FCCY, allowing me to proclaim God’s word in the lectern and in my life as well.
I am therefore challenged more to live as Jesus lived, loving everyone every moment of my life, and spreading this love to everyone I meet.

Greetings in the name of our LORD JESUS!
