Marriage Requirements


Basic Requirements
  1. Original copy of Baptismal and Confirmation certificates (with the notation for marriage purpose only) of the couple to be married
  2. Canonical interview to be conducted by a SPAP priest
  3. Pre-Cana seminar to be conducted at SPAP every second Sunday of the month, at 8:30 AM
  4. Marriage license (for not civilly married) to be applied from the city or municipality of either couple; valid for 120 days or four months only
  5. Certified true copy of marriage contract (for civilly married)
  6. Marriage bans: form taken from SPAP 1 ½ months prior to the wedding for posting at the respective parishes of the couple three consecutive Sundays before the wedding.
  7. Invitation card to be submitted together with the marriage license

For divorced persons
  1. For Filipino citizens
  2. For foreigners

For non-Catholics (mixed marriage or disparity of cult)

  • Should sign a Promise and Declaration for mixed marriage or disparity of cult, as the case may be
  • Should secure dispensation for mixed marriage or disparity of cult, as the case may be, from the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Manila
For Filipino citizens living abroad for more than six months
  • Should secure Certificate of Freedom to Marry from Church abroad

For widowers or widows

  • Should secure certified true copy of Death Certificate of the deceased spouse
